ECMTA meeting in Gdansk!
The next meeting of ECMTA is May 28-30 at the S. Moniuszko Academy in Gdansk! It is still possible to enroll.

Member presentations and masterclasses
All ECMTA members are invited to give 20-minute presentations of their projects, new repertoire, festivals, competitions, curriculums. All members may also propose to do a coaching session with available student groups.

Student participation
If you would like to bring student groups to participate in either masterclasses or concerts.

  4. From Vilnius
    • The Ninth Chamber Music Contest of interpretation of the works of Lithuanian Composers  (14 November 2009)  was organised by the Department of Chamber music of Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LAMT).
    • The Sixth International S. Vainiunas Piano and Chamber Music Competition was organized in Vilnius on 29 March-04 April 2010. With support from ECMTA members 18 ensembles from Austria,Denmark,Poland,Latvia,Belarus,Russia,Taiwan and Lithuania participated. Members of the jury were Avo Kouyoumdjian (Chairman -Vienna), Audrone Vainiunaite, Gunta Sproge (Riga), Alexander Bonduryansky (Moscow), Petras Kunca (Vilnius), Dalia Balsyte (Vilnius).
    • The 12th annual "Spring Sonata" competition, for all chamber music students in Lithuania was organised at the "Ciurlionis Arts School" in Vilnius on 24-25 April 2010.  There is a project for this competition to become international in two years.
    • In spite of travel difficulties as a result of the volcanic ash cloud, the "International Students' Chamber Music Festival" organized by State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart took place 20-22 April 2010). Student ensembles from Stuttgart,Tallinn,Riga,Vilnius,Oslo and Lausanne were to participate, but owing to paralysis of air transport the delegation from Vilnius was not able to attend.
    • Chamber music masterclasses were organised at the Lithuanian Academy of Music in 2009-2010 with Erkki Lahesmaa     (cello,Turku,Finland), Arne Balk-Moller   (violin,Odense,Denmark), Gudrun Franke   (piano,Leipzig), and Peter Schuhmayer (violin,Vienna)

  5. From Riga
    The «We Play Music With Friends» Foundation Chamber Music Competition in Riga, June 4-6, 2010

    Festival-Competition is organized by "We Play Music With Friends" Foundation and Jāzeps Mediņš Music School of Riga Latvia. The Festival-Competition will be held on 4th - 6th of June, 2010 in Jāzeps Mediņš Riga 1st Music School: Kronvalda bulv. 8, Rīga Latvia.
    The Competition is open for young instrumentalists (up to 21 years of age) of all specialties and nationalities.

    Chamber ensembles must perform
    • two pieces of different period and style, original music and/or arrangements
    • one of the pieces must be a large form: sonata (whole or part/s), trio
    • one of the pieces must be a piece of 17th -19th century western composer.

  6. From Bucharest
    The National University of Music in Bucharest is organising events in memory of the composer Alfred Mendelssohn on May 19, 2010, in collabration with Living Music Foundation (USA) and Nuova Musica Consonante.
    Guest participants include Dr. Liana Alexandra, musicologist Smaranda Oteanu-Bunea,.Dr. Serban Nichifor, and a written contribution from Dr. Vladimir Mendelsohn.


    The National University of Music Bucharest  also organised an AMERICAN-ROMANIAN CONCERT May 7, 2010. Look at the videos on YouTube.
