Orlando Festival 2012 – enlist now!
People can now enlist for the Orlando Festival. Musicians form all ages and proficiency levels come together in the beautiful abbey of Rolduc from the 10th until the 19th of August. Amateur ensembles, professional ensembles, adults and youngsters; nine days everybody enjoys chamber music in all its splendour. The ensembles receive lessons during the day from professionals who in their turn perform in concerts at night in the theatres of Kerkrade and Heerlen (South of the Netherlands). At Rolduc there are, besides the lessons and master classes, workshops, inspirational lectures, several meet&greet opportunities, concerts and more.
For the first time one of the best known brass ensembles of the world will be among the musicians to teach and perform during the festival: the London Brass Quintet. The Dutch ensemble Zapp 4, who bring their own funk-jazz repertoire to the mix is also a representative of the festivals unlimited musical ambitions. Boundaries will also be crossed by students and amateur ensembles in inspirational new workshops which will be taught by Renee Jonker and Zapp 4. The master class for string quartets is one of the best known master classes in Western Europe. In the past members of the Amadeus Quartet, the Borodin Quartet and the Julliard Quartet and many more experience teachers taught this master class. Many of the young quartets who have been taught in this master class won international awards since then. We are very happy and pleased to announce that this year renowned educationist and violinist of the Ysayë Quartet, Luc-Marie Aguera has agreed to teach the master class this year. Miranda van Kralingen will continue her master class for singers and pianists. This year she will be accompanied by the pianist Stefan Veselka.
The Mondrian Trio form Israel and the Spanish quartet Cuarteto Quiroga (they were in the master class of the festival in 2008) will perform the classics as well as new repertoire. For many years now the Osiris Trio and the Orlando Quintet are established names at the festival and in 2012 they are of course present. Also Japanese violinist Saeko Oguma is for some people an old acquaintance. New to the festival are violinist Elisabeth Perry and violinist Richard Wolfe.
This international chamber music festival brings together professionals, amateurs, adults and youngsters. They all share a passion for music. Join us in Rolduc and be mesmerized by the beautiful music, meet new people and get inspired. Besides all the festival activities in Rolduc there are numerous concerts in the region and in the theatres of Kerkrade and Heerlen.
